Danielle Vernon
PT, CEAS III, Scoliosis Specialist
Danielle Vernon, PT is the inventor and designer of the Backbone Cushion as well as a leading medical professional in her field with over 20 years of experience in orthopedics, spine conditions and postural restoration. Ms. Vernon teaches on her specialties around the country, has co-authored a book on body weight exercises for women and has been recognized by Austin’s Woman Magazine as one of 2018’s Women to Watch. More importantly, to her, she is recognized by her clients for her caring nature, empathy and effectiveness in successfully assessing and resolving her client’s pain issues.
In addition, as an on-site therapist and Level III certified ergonomist, her goal was to ensure that her clients were able to return to a safe work environment once their physical therapy was completed. These two areas married perfectly in the creation of the Backbone Cushion. A cushion that not only comforts and corrects posture but also has helped to improve employee productivity and reduce work-site injuries by 35% (based on client reports and normative stats taken since 2012)
Since 2011, Danielle has designed and tested various prototypes which ultimately led to the current patented Backbone Cushion ™, a better, upright back support which helps to improve postural alignment and comfort while you sit. In 2014, Danielle was short-listed on Shark Tank and her video can be seen on her YouTube Channel.
Danielle is originally from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and graduated from the University of Alberta in 2000. She loves living in Austin, TX, being outdoors with her family and paddle boarding with her puppy, Bella. She continues to be active in the physical therapy community as the owner/director of ScolioAustin, a niche clinic focused on clients with spine conditions.
